VBS Reflection & The Weekend Ahead~

This quote sums up how my youngest and I feel at the end of teaching anywheres from 11-17 (yes 17) 3 year olds this week at our church's Vacation Bible School.  We had a BLAST!  The theme this year was Colossal Coaster Ride-think theme park on steroids!  So much fun was had by all.  The kids showed up each day eager to explore, sing, craft, and learn about Jesus & God.  Our theme song will forever be stuck in my head...picture this...we are all set to ride the gigantic roller coaster...and the first line is "EVERYBODY SAY WEEEEE!!!!!"  YES, THEY WERE HOOKED FROM DAY ONE!  We however are now singing it in our sleep.

I am always amazed by the younger crowd (2-5s)...they are like little sponges absorbing EVERYTHING and ANYTHING.  Even though most squirmed the entire time the Bible story was being told, when asked what we talked about the day before, or two days before, or even three days before, they remembered EVERYTHING!!!!

A touching story, and one that makes it all worth while for a teacher...our verse for the week was "God helps me.  I will not be afraid.  Hebrews 13:6"  One of the children's mothers stopped by and said, "I just have to tell you...she was out in the yard with her dad last night.  A bee kept flying around them.  Her dad told her not to worry or be afraid, it would be okay.  She turned to her dad and said, "God helps me, I will not be afraid"...and then quoted the book and number of the verse!  Dad was speechless!!!

I wanted to cry...they GOT IT!!!

They have one more day of Bible School...sadly we won't be there to experience  the grand finale (the youngest is having her wisdom teeth out sharply at 9AM!), but we are thrilled to hear that 54, 54 children, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ this week!  Many of whom are not members of our church, but were invited by friends.

My thoughts going in..."if this makes a difference in even ONE child's life, it is all worth it."  However, we touched close to 500 little lives this week.  AMAZING!!!

Praying everyone has a wonderful weekend.

To my fellow Georgia bloggers...I pray all survived today's storms unharmed!

Lauren, what a wonderful story! I remember how great VBS was when I was a kid. I need to go back and volunteer myself. You are inspiring! Hope you weathered (no pun intended!) the storms okay. It got crazy there for a minute, didn't it?!

So sweet. My kids started doing VBS last year (my oldest two as youth leaders and my son as a camper) and it has been amazing, I wish I had registered them years ago.
