I thought I'd share a quote I recently came across while browsing Pinterest. While waiting for paint to dry one has a bit of extra time. LOL
The older I get the more I find myself thinking about this. And, my pastor recently preached about leaving a legacy. What do we want to be remembered for?
I would hope that others remember me for the way I treated them, hopefully with the upmost love, affection and kindness, and that more than anything I was bold enough to share my faith with them and point them to my Heavenly Father. Two of my very favorite songs are Legacy by Nicole Nordeman and I Want to Live Like That (my ringtone) by Sidewalk Prophets.
I honestly believe in the end no one is going to remember what clothes I wore, what latest pair of booties were on my feet, the color of my walls and the list goes on. At least I hope that isn't the case. Because if I am being honest, I missed the mark if that is the case.
Something to ponder on this Thursday.
I love both of those songs too. These are wonderful words to remember. Experiences and memories are so much more valuable than having the latest and greatest.
ReplyDeleteI have actually been thinking about my legacy for the past couple of years.
ReplyDeleteI have tried to be the sort of person that would leave a positive mark on the world. Some people see you the way they want to see you no matter what you do.
So, I focus on trying to be the sort of individual that God and my parents would be proud of...thats all.
Sweet, sweet songs.

Both great songs, Lauren. Isn't it funny what we think about as we hit middle age and beyond? When you are young you never give a thought to what your legacy will be (at least most people don't) because you have a whole lifetime ahead of you. As you age you realize that time moves faster than you ever imagined it would...and while we are building treasures in heaven it is nice to leave good memories on earth.
ReplyDeleteBlessings- this was a GREAT post- xo Diana
all the wonderful memories of my parents, my aunts and uncles and cousins that have passed on to their Heavenly home, involve their kindness, their funny personalities, their caring and love...never what they wore or what their decorating abilities were...or how much money they had....
ReplyDeleteLove these songs. I too think more about leaving goodness and love everywhere in my life. This post was so beautiful to read this morning.
