Hubby and I decided to get out and get some fresh air.
On Saturday, we headed into Virginia Highlands to wander through the local shops and grab a bite to eat for lunch.
I was thrilled when we stumbled upon a quaint store full of candles (all marked 30-50% off). I had pretty much depleted our supply over the holidays.
Shoreline by Aquisse (Ocean Breeze, Coastal Flowers, Drenched Wood), Gullah southern botanical perfumed soy candle (magnolia, gardenia, amercian holly, clean musks, exotic bensoin resin, and a warm backround of sweet vanilla and oak wood), Paddywax Apothecary (Tobacco & Patchouli).
The Gullah candle is part of the Low Country Luxe Collection. They also have Savannah, Charleston, Living in High Cotton, Sea Grass, and Spanish Moss. Perfect gift for a Southern Friend!
The Shoreline candle is quite unique, as you will see in the following pictures.
Once you take the lid off...you will find these underneath a cap.
Matches!
and then...the lid becomes a coaster for the candle!!
Apparently we did not get enough fresh air on Saturday (we are making up for a couple weeks of snow and ice after all), so we headed up to Dahlonega for the afternoon after church.
First stop, Main Street Burger...we happened to stumble upon this. I was reading the menu outside when a young girl stopped and said, "Miss, their burgers are amazing." And, to my surprise they offered Gluten free buns (however, they were out due to the weather the previous week and not receiving their shipment). Nonetheless, the burgers were amazing as well as the sweet potato fries. They offer a good variety of milkshakes as well. Great place to take the kiddos if you are up that way. I can see why the college kids at North Georgia love it!
We strolled around the town, stopping in a few stops. The last was a larger antique market. I was thrilled to stumble upon this Royal Albert Plate. One in a series of "A Man's Best Friend" collection.
You see, we have a very spoiled Cairn Terrier, named Kylee, who also adores her red ball!! This was perfect!!!
And lastly, I am trying to cut out sugared drinks (mainly my sweet tea...so hard). I am not a fan of plain water. I was thrilled to stumble upon this new flavor by La Croix water.
Cherry-Lime
They are quite good!
Well, enough ramblings. Hope you have a happy Tuesday!!
Sounds like a perfect day! Love the plate of the dog and the ball! soo sweet. You are so lucky your temps are in the 60's. We're waiting for another snowstorm. Have a great week, Lauren!
ReplyDeleteI need some new candles too! Yours are beautiful and so fun. For some reason I am dreaming about spring today and a nice scented beachy candle would be perfect :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like my perfect weekend, strolling around and eating!! :) What a cute plate, obviously waiting just for you! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. I love candles, too. I would love to smell some of those Southern ones. What a sweet time you had and TWO days of it!!!
ReplyDeleteI will have to try that flavor for hubby. Right now ALL he drinks is the lime one-but he does like cherry so this might be one he will like. xo Diana
Lucky duck! I've never seen low country luxe on sale :-)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you and your husband had a lovely weekend! It's fun to try out new candles. I always have one burning in our living room. I'm still using up the ones I bought at Christmas. I think it might be time for me to pick up some spring scents! We are hooked on those waters....so tasty and refreshing.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel great to get out when the weather is nice? It's been nonstop rain/snow here .. making up for a mild January, and it will be grey for a couple more months. Your candles sound lovely! They have interesting names and I'm sure they will make your home smell incredible.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day Lauren! xxleslie
Sounds like you had loads of fun Lauren (and that you were also on a shopping spree) ;)
ReplyDeleteI love ramblings!! And rambling like you did to that sweet little town. I love candles from these out of the way places, I think they have a much better, stronger scent than the mass marketed ones. And the matches! How neat! I love the plate you found and you have me craving a burger.
ReplyDeleteI have seen the La Croix water in the store, does it have any sugar? I only drink the artificial sweeteners like in Diet Pepsi or Crystal Light. Not good, I know. I've never put sugar in my coffee or tea. I bought some iced tea at the grocery store last week and it said "diet" so I assumed it wasn't sweetened. It had Splenda in it and I thought that was so misleading!! But good luck, I know you Southerners love your sweet tea!! :)
XO,
Jane
Sounds like wonderful experiences! At least it wasn't snowing or icy. I guess everyone is sick of that.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying my best to just give up sugar and yes, it's SO hard! I don't use it in my tea or coffee but it's in everything I like. :) The LaCroix drinks are good...I think they're refreshing. Have you tried putting anything in water to make it more flavorful for you? I love to put slices of limes, lemons, oranges...or add sliced cucumbers and mint...or fresh berries. Just a thought ~

That's my kind of weekend - strolling around, eating, and shopping! Love the plate and the candle! How clever about the matches - I don't burn candles often so I'm always hunting all over for matches when I do!
ReplyDeleteAh such a lovely day! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time drinking plain water also. I bought a Soda Stream and now make my own flavored waters.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a nice weekend! Love those candles!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a perfect weekend, Lauren! From the shopping to the burgers, just getting out and getting some sunshine is much needed! I went outside yesterday to shovel tons of snow but you know what? I stood there under a gorgeous blue sky with the sparkling snow, and raised my arms up to God and thanked Him for the most STUNNING scene....the sun felt warm on my face (while I'm wearing a parka) and it was a good moment. Spring will come, like clockwork!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming to visit my post last night; I tell ya, angels are all around us, and I'm so glad to hear that you shared what you did with your friend....miracles really do happen in modern times; we just have to believe that WE can be the messengers of most of them..be well and have a GREAT Sunday!
