The Wheels On The Bus...

go round and round, round and round, round and round...

Well...you get the picture.

Yup...these bad boys were rolling through the neighborhood today making their trial runs.  School starts next Wednesday for those in our district, but some went back today!  Our oldest is busy with pre-planning and cheerleading at her new school as well.

Where did the summer go???  While I miss my baby girl when she is away at the university, I am however thankful I get her for a few more weeks.  Next week would have been way too soon.

Whatever happened to the "TRADITIONAL" school year??? Day after Labor Day-1st week of June???

And, if that isn't bad enough...Hobby Lobby already has all the Christmas stuff out!!! Yikes!

Anyone else out there wishing you could put the brakes on???

  2. I was in Hobby Lobby this week, too, and noticed the Fall and Christmas things were out. I have to admit, though, I did get Fall Fever. I think I'm over summer.

  5. They do go back early! Yes, when I grew up we went back the day after Labor Day, too! Christmas! I wish stores would slow down rushing the holidays along so we could enjoy each one. I worked in retail for several years and couldn't believe it.

  9. That is so early! In Michigan, I believe there is law that school cannot start before Labor Day, enacted to encourage tourism. {At least I think so... I'm not that big on following everything the Legislature does.} No way am I ready to think about Christmas. It's only August 2, I want to keep enjoying summer!

  11. What?? wow, you guys are on a very different schedule! I think that kids and parents NEED their summers. We begin a new school year the day after Labor Day. Even though my kids are grown and no longer attend school, I still feel the start of a new year.. and schedule all my to-do lists. It's a time to wrap up summer and get ready for the next season:) Happy weekend to you Lauren! xxleslie

  14. The brakes definitely need to get on! Time flies by already, and we don't need reminders of Christmas stuff yet! Where does the summer go? I say that every year, but it really flies by as the kids get older. :( Have fun with your daughter these next few weeks!!
