Savannah History & 100th Post!

Today we will tour the Historic District of Savannah.  Quite fitting since this will be my 100th post!!!  Be forwarned...tons of pictures ahead.

And, on our way back from Tybee we toured Fort Pulaski in the 90+ degree heat (I would recommend doing this in the fall!!).



We toured most of the Historic District on foot.  It was HOT!!!  We did take a trolley ride one day just to be sure we hadn't missed anything we REALLY should see.  Our driver was the BEST!!!  As she will tell ya, "my name is Diva, D I V A, that stands for Danielle Is Very Attractive, my husband gave me that nickname, smart man!!" LOL  She was a hoot.  Made the tour so much fun.

I couldn't have done all that walking without these...

They are by far the most comfortable flip flops I have ever owned, Feelgoodz.  Like walking on marshmallows.

Stay turned...we are getting to the good stuff tomorrow...FOOD!!

Savannah-hotel lighting~

When staying in  a hotel, not everyone REALLY pays attention to the lighting.  But, when you are staying in a hotel knowing you want to post pictures on your blog upon return...well, you do.  We had some unusual lighting fixtures in our room, and couldn't help but poke fun at a few.

Savannah-the hotel~

We had a wonderful time in Savannah last week!  I took tons of pictures, so I decided it would be best to break them down into categories and create a weeks worth of posts.

First up, our hotel.  We stayed at the Avia, smack dab in the middle of the historic district!  The Avia opened in 2009 (we believe renovated after prior tenants left). The Avia has four hotels only nationwide, Long Beach, Napa, The Woodlands (outside Houston) and Savannah.  I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Savannah and tour the historic district and riverstreet.  The hotel was clean, the staff very personable, and everything was within walking distance!!!  We only took the car out for a day trip to Tybee Island.  The hotel is situated one building over from the famous Paula Dean Lady and Sons restaurant, a stone's throw away from the town green and fountains and less than a block from City Market.  A quick walk across Bay Street will find you in the River District.
