The floor is in!

We finally have the flooring installed in the craft/workroom.  As you all might recall, we had purchased this flooring from Ikea...

Tundra flooring.

The Tundra flooring is a "floating" floor...so not happening on our uneven concrete floors in our basement, especially since there is nothing to anchor the 1st row to since the back wall is concrete as well.  So, on to plan B...12 inch vinyl stick on tiles.  We picked a neutral color tile by Armstrong backed by a lifetime guarantee.  So easy to install, and it does stick so be sure it is where you want it.

We love how it turned out, so we are planning on running it into the hall and utility area as well.

A close up view.

In the room.

Tomorrow we plan to tackle the hall and utility room, and get the shelving/cabinets for the craft/workroom installed.  Then the fun begins...organizing everything...my favorite part, hubby's-not so much!

Also, thought I'd show you one of my inspiration pieces for my new office (that has yet to be completed since I've put it on hold, and everything I seem to want is on backorder!).

We purchased this print from an artist in Savannah while we were there.  Love all the colors, and if I'd taken our Cairn and asked him to paint her...this is exactly how it would have  turned out.

I just love it!  Makes me smile every time I walk into the room.  Hopefully in the next week I can get some of these projects completed to show you.  Our youngest, the jetsetter, is off again on Monday...this time for a leadership conference in Orlando!  I just finished her laundry from NY!!

Book Recommendation For That Special Man in Your Life~

I know a lot of you have car buffs for husbands, so I thought I would tell you about a book my sweet hubby (a car fanatic himself) asked for for Father's Day.  A must read for those car buffs in your life.

Home Sweet Home~

She is finally home...more than 2+ hours late.  She had the best time in the Big City.  She talked nonstop the whole way home from the rail station.  Her big sis came home to surprise her as well.

A week in the city, singing, doing community service work, ministering...and she is ready to go back already!  We are so thankful...not ONE minor headache the entire time!!!  Such a blessing.  We are praying she has turned a  corner where her migraines are concerned.

We couldn't wait to show her what we've done so far in the basement...she didn't suspect a thing.  Her sister said, "oh, you should see the brick wall".  Big sisters are not the best at keeping secrets from younger sisters.  LOL  I gave her the look (she doesn't have a clue)...oops!

So, with eyes closed we led her downstairs...

Wish I had a pic of "her" reaction, but since big sis already had her heading downstairs to check things out there was not time to grab the camera!

She was shocked!  And, very excited.  Neither one could believe mom painted a "brick wall" in under an hour.  Yesiree...I did.  Of course my oldest said, "love it mom, but not sure I want you to paint my apartment."  LOL

I am so happy she loves it.  We still have a ways to go, but like I told her...in a week's time it'll be ready for friends, but by her birthday in September it will be really cool!

Oh...and she and her beau made it official while in NYC...he's the cutie patootie she went to prom with!!  Such a cute couple.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  We will be installing the flooring in the workroom/craftroom while the princess sleeps in.   She's never had to share a room with 3 girls before! LOL

Flight Delayed & Basement Sneak Peek~

Due to severe weather here in Atlanta, our youngest's flight home from NYC has been delayed...but not before they put them on the plane and pushed away from the gate.  So, they are sitting on the tarmac with a dozen or so planes in line ahead of them...waiting...

They had a fabulous time in Brooklyn at their host church, and enjoyed sightseeing in the Big City.  They did a little shopping, went to the huge McDonalds on Broadway, saw the Lion King, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, Times Square, and performed many a concerts at the church while also participating in several community service projects.

While the basement isn't finished, we did manage to accomplish a lot and hope to have more completed by the end of the weekend.

Here's a peek...
Lawn and Garden Supplies Sorted and Organized

Another view of our new shelving to house lawn, garden, paint supplies and tools.

A shot of the new workroom/craftroom, we used leftover light blue paint from our daughter's old bedroom.
It really lightened up the area (the new light fixture helped as well).

Another shot.  We used white pegboard for the walls that were just studs and painted the concrete walls.

New Tundra flooring from Ikea that we will be installing in the workroom/craftroom tomorrow.

Faux brick wall I painted.  This wall is at the end of the long room that will become the new tv/entertainment room for the kids.

Another shot of the brick wall.

Wish the weather looked like this tonight.  This was last night's sunset...just gorgeous.  Right now it is stormy.

Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!.  We can't wait to surprise our daughter...when she finally arrives. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Got Junk?

Well...we found out we have plenty, or I should say "had"...thanks to our wonderful crew from 1-800 Got Junk.

Yes, I know...I promised pictures of my new Office, then pictures of our Master and Master Bath ...well, once again being a MOM to one (well two really) fabulous daughter got in the way.

Where to begin?  The beginning maybe?  We purchased our home June 1, 1993.  Our oldest, and only at the time, was 2 1/2.  Since then we have added another daughter, and a few more animals.  Add A LOT of DIY projects and you have our basement...full of stuff junk.  While at one point in time the junk was organized, yes I had organized junk.  It no longer was, and was grating on my last nerve.

Our youngest has begged for us to clear it out, so she could set up shop, and invite her friends to hang out for movie nights.  We do have a TV room upstairs, but hardly the spot for 15 or more teens.  Well, as I have mentioned...she is in NYC (Brooklyn) for a Mission Trip with the youth choir from church.  So...mom convinced begged pleaded twisted daddy's arm to finally get it done.  She will be a senior in high school this fall afterall, it's now or nevah. I think the biggest motivating factor was that child's bright smile despite the year she'd just had.  As most of you know, she has suffered from severe migraine headaches for a couple years now that had progressively gottten worse.  A lot of doctors visits, MRIs (to be sure the benign cyst she has on her brain had not grown as 1st suspected), medications (some that worked, some not so much), missed school (25 days to be exact, not counting days she went in late or left early), days spent in bed, the trial and error with her diet and sleep patterns, and the stresss that went with it all (making it worse).

I tell you all of this because despite ALL of IT...she still smiles, made Honor Roll, Scholar Athlete, coached a 12 year club team to a tournament win and 10th place finish in the region, and is taking time out of her summer to be an example to others.  She is also back playing her favorite sport, Volleyball.  She never missed a beat.  We are so so proud of her.

So, while I have no pictures of the office nor our master to share  I will share these...and we are praying we get most of it done by Friday night when she returns.  Until then, I am taking a blogging break because this is one project this momma is determined to make happen.

The remains of DIY and old cabinets!

A closer look!

My Heros!!!

Office Sneak Peek~

I know I promised the reveal of our newly decorated Master Bedroom and Bath, and I truly hope to have pictures posted by the end of the weekend, but let's just say...being a mom got in the way!

Our youngest is back in the gym playing volleyball, for which we are truly thankful.  As most of you know she has suffered with terrible migraines for quite some time now, and had to take some time off.  During her time off, she coached a 12 year old team to a tournament championship and to the top 10 in our Region.  She is almost off all of her medications and is feeling 95% better!  I think the summer sunshine and no school has something to do with it!!

So, you ask, what does that have to do with you?  Well, I am the Booster Club President and have been in the gym for the past two weeks making sure things run smoothly for our new head coach and making sure all players have turned in their necessary paperwork to our wonderful set of summer camp chairpersons.  Throw in a stormy afternoon and evening with no power, and a child who needs help packing for a week long trip to NYC and mom didn't get a whole lot accomplished!!  But, that is OKAY.  She will be gone soon enough (graduates next May).

So, I will leave you with my apologies and a sneak peek at what's to come in my new home office!  Let's just say...the story of the office is "I'm sorry mam, that is on backorder!" UGH!!

Fabric used in the room.

A few of my new desk top accessories.

Hope everyone is having a great week.  We put our youngest on the bus at 9 am for the airport tomorrow morning for her mission trip to NYC, and mom is really hoping to get quite a bit done in her absence!

It's that time!!!

Blueberry season has officially arrived. We picked out first bucket full today.  Yes, right off the bushes in our very own backyard.  For the next few weeks will we be able to pick about a bucket full every other day.  While I'd like to say we make some fantastic desserts with them, they are usually gone before I get a chance.  The girls eat them by the handful.  I'll have to set some aside for our oldest before her sister gets to them, as she is living in her own apartment now and we only see her every so often since she is going to school and interning.

The tomato plants in our garden are HUGE.  I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow.  Also, hope to reveal our Master Bedroom and Bath this week.  I'd hoped to have the office finished, but we've hit a few bumps along the road (one being my desk took 2 months to finally arrive).

Hope everyone has a great start to their week!

Heavenly Hydrangeas~

It is summertime (at least temps wise, not quite June 21st), and our hydrangeas are in full bloom.  I love being able to cut a few each week and bring them indoors to enjoy!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Hoping to wrap up  some of the many projects we have going.

Savannah-the shops~

Final destination...shopping!  My favorite.  My dear friend grew up in Savannah, and gave me a few recommendations...but for the most part, we just stopped in those that peaked our interest while out walking around town.

We had a wonderful time in Savannah!  Hope you all enjoyed the tour.
